A self-custody wallet: your keys stay with you
The Zeltis wallet is planned as a self-custody wallet, also called a non-custodial wallet: the crypto in it is yours, and only you can move it. This page says how it will work. None of it can be used yet.
What self-custody means
A crypto wallet is controlled by a key. Whoever holds the key can move what is in the wallet. In a self-custody wallet that is you. In an app that holds your crypto for you, the company holds the key and you hold a login.
The difference shows on a bad day:
- If your account is reviewed. At an app that holds your crypto, everything can be paused at once, crypto included. In a self-custody wallet your crypto stays where it is.
- If the company stops. At an app that holds your crypto, you wait for it to hand your assets back. With your own key you move them yourself.
How it will work: a key in two parts
When you create the wallet, its key is split in two parts. One part stays on your phone. The other part is held by the wallet service. Both parts are needed to sign a transfer, so nobody can move your crypto without you, and a break-in on our side is not enough to move it either.
One part is always with you. The part on our side cannot sign anything alone.
You can leave whenever you like
You will be able to export your key and use another compatible wallet. If Zeltis stops, you export your key and move your crypto. Your crypto stays yours, whatever happens to the app.
What the wallet will hold
At the start: euro and US dollar stablecoins, Bitcoin and Ether. The list will grow carefully.
Euro that you send to your euro account details arrives in the wallet as a euro stablecoin, one to one. From there you can exchange it at one clear price or pay with the card.
The honest part: it is also a responsibility
You will set up a recovery method when you create the wallet. With it you can restore the wallet on a new phone.
If you lose both your phone and your recovery method, nobody can restore the wallet, including us. The app will help you set up recovery on the first day. More on this is on the page about how keys and data are protected.
What self-custody does not change
- You will verify your identity before using the card and the euro account, and transfers will be screened, as at any payment company.
- The card and the euro account will come from partner e-money institutions, which can pause them. If that happens, your crypto is still in your wallet.
- Zeltis is not a bank and will not hold deposits. It will not pay interest, has no rewards programme and no token.
- A wallet does not protect you from prices. The value of what you hold can fall.
See it in the demo
The demo app shows the whole planned flow, from creating the wallet to the first exchange, with simulated numbers. No real money moves in it, there is no sign-up and nothing to install.

Crypto-assets are volatile. You can lose money. The value of a crypto-asset can fall as well as rise, and it can fall to nothing. This page describes a planned product. It is not an offer and not investment advice. Zeltis has not opened. Services are not available yet.
