A crypto card that pays from your own wallet

Zeltis plans a virtual card in your phone that you can use wherever cards are accepted, while your crypto stays in a wallet only you control. This page says how the card will work. None of it can be used yet.

What the card will be

A virtual card in your phone. Tap to pay, wherever cards work.

The card will be provided by a partner e-money institution under its own terms. No partner has been announced yet. Its name and terms will be published before launch.

What you will control

  • Freeze. Stop the card in the app and switch it back on when you want.
  • Limits. Set how much the card can spend.
  • Spend order. Choose what is spent first: your euro balance or another asset in your wallet.

How a card works when the keys stay with you

Most money apps hold your assets for you, and their card spends from that balance. Zeltis is built the other way round: your crypto sits in your self-custody wallet, and the card is a separate service on top of it.

That gives two layers with different rules:

  • The wallet. Only you can move what is in it. The key is split in two parts and one of them stays on your phone.
  • The card. The partner institution that provides it must run the same checks as any payment company, and it can pause the card.

If the card is paused or reviewed, your crypto is still in your wallet. We will not claim more than that: a card is a payment product and follows payment rules.

Checks before you can pay

Before using the card you will go through one identity check: a document and a selfie. We will say what is needed and how long it takes before you start. Transfers will be screened, as at any payment company.

You will know why something happened

Every payment will have a status and a time. If something is held for a check, the app will say what is affected and what you can still do.

What a card payment will cost

Card prices are part of the full price list, which will be published before launch and may still change. What is planned today, including the exchange fee, is on the fees page. How an exchange is priced is explained on the exchange page.

Where it will be available

We plan to start in Latvia, Spain and Portugal and then add other countries of the European Economic Area. Availability will be limited to EEA residents at launch. Zeltis will not serve US persons or residents of sanctioned jurisdictions.

What the card is not

  • It is not a credit card. It spends what is in your wallet.
  • It is not a way to earn. Zeltis has no rewards programme and no token.
  • It is not a bank product of Zeltis. Zeltis is not a bank and will not hold deposits; the card will come from a partner e-money institution.

See it in the demo

In the demo app you can issue a card, freeze it, change its limits and make a simulated purchase. No real money moves in it. To receive euro for the card, see the euro account details.

Crypto-assets are volatile. You can lose money. The value of a crypto-asset can fall as well as rise, and it can fall to nothing. This page describes a planned product. It is not an offer and not investment advice. Zeltis has not opened. Services are not available yet.
